An alleged learn agent of online cockfighting operations was arrested in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City on Tuesday, the Philippine Nationwide Police Anti-Cybercrime Team (PNP-ACG) said Thursday.
The PNP-ACG said the suspect was nabbed following an operative accessed a reside e-sabong procedure and placed bets via the agent’s assist.
An informant had described to the authorities the e-sabong learn agent who was allegedly seeking for bettors.
The operative achieved with the suspect who was then facilitating the on-line registration on the e-sabong platform.
According to the PNP-ACG, the suspect convinced the operative to create an e-sabong account.
Confiscated from the suspect was a smartphone.
The suspect is now beneath the custody of ACG EDACT in Barangay Caniogan, Pasig Metropolis, for documentation and proper disposal, the PNP-ACG mentioned.
Felony rates for violations of the Prescribing Stiffer Penalties on Unlawful Gambling and Cockfighting Legislation of 1974 in relation to Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 will be filed against the suspect, it added.
“Let this be a warning to all directors and operators of the on-line ‘sabong’ who are however bent on discovering techniques and strategies to proceed with their e-sabong operations,” PNP-ACG officer-in-charge Police Brigadier Normal Bowenn Joey Masauding reported.
